President Donald Trump lit up Truth Social Saturday evening with a fiery message aimed directly at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), after Democrats, with the help of RINOs, successfully stonewalled dozens of Trump’s highly qualified nominees before the Senate left Washington for its monthlong August recess.

The Senate left for its August recess without a deal to advance dozens of President Trump’s nominees after days of contentious bipartisan negotiations, according to ABC News.

However, reports indicate that a deal was struck allowing votes to proceed on seven final civilian nominees, including Jeanine Pirro, who was confirmed as U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Republicans are now weighing changes to Senate rules to speed up the confirmation process for President Trump’s nominees when they return in September, according to Axios. 

President Trump publicly pressured the Senate to stay in session to confirm his nominees, even posting on social media that Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer could “GO TO HELL!” over the stalled negotiations. 

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote:

“Senator Cryin’ Chuck Schumer is demanding over One Billion Dollars in order to approve a small number of our highly qualified nominees, who should right now be helping to run our Country.

This demand is egregious and unprecedented, and would be embarrassing to the Republican Party if it were accepted. It is political extortion, by any other name. Tell Schumer, who is under tremendous political pressure from within his own party, the Radical Left Lunatics, to GO TO HELL!

Do not accept the offer, go home and explain to your constituents what bad people the Democrats are, and what a great job the Republicans are doing, and have done, for our Country. Have a great RECESS and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

Instead of owning up to his disgraceful ransom note politics, Schumer, clearly triggered, rushed to the microphone for a petulant late-night press conference where he accused Trump of “throwing a tantrum” and “walking away with his tail between his legs.”

Schumer:
“Good evening, everybody, and thank you for coming at this late hour. So, let’s be clear about what happened: Donald Trump attempted to steamroll the Senate to put in place his historically unqualified nominees. But Senate Democrats wouldn’t let him. In a fit of rage, Trump threw in the towel, sent Republicans home, and was unable to do the basic work of negotiating.

Is this the art of the deal? Posture, cajole, stamp your feet, and then give up? This says it all: Donald Trump tried to bully us, go around us, threaten us, call us names—but he got nothing, and he walked away with his tail between his legs.

We should be working together on legislation to get things done for the American people. That’s the way to go—not changing the rules. Because when they change the rules, they say, “Only we’re going to decide what’s good for the American people.” And every time they do that, the American people lose.”
