Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (Socialist-NY) appears poised to fulfill millions of Republicans’ dreams as she considers a bid for the most powerful office in the world.
Axios dropped an exclusive report on Friday that AOC has been seeking to expand her political operation across America and her home state of New York. AOC has invested millions to expand her social media presence and is also obtaining a list of possible supporters and donors to boost her grassroots fundraising ceiling.
On the surface, it appears she wants to be the heir apparent to Comrade Bernie Sanders (Socialist-VT), as she has already hired multiple former senior advisers of the Vermont Senator.
A Sanders aide told Axios it was the “height of arrogance to assume she couldn’t win the 2028 nomination.”
“She has a supporter base that, in many ways, has a larger potential width than Bernie’s,” Ari Rabin-Havt explained to the outlet.
“She has been in the glare of the spotlight from day one and has the national campaigning experience a lot of other potential candidates are now trying to get,” he added.
Many of AOC’s cronies see a run for the presidency as a win-win scenario for her. Even if she falls short, a run for the White House would give the socialist wing of the Democratic Party a powerful voice in the primary.
In other words, AOC could garner enough support to serve as a queenmaker and push the Democratic Party even further to the left.
Should AOC ultimately pass on a presidential run, a potential primary showdown with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer beckons. Either way, her days as a backbencher in the House are nearing the end.
News of AOC’s dreams of the presidency should not come as a surprise to TGP readers. Earlier this year, she flew around the country with Sanders as part of a “Fight Oligarchy” Tour to yell about their shared hatred for rich people.
Like a true champagne socialist, she did so in style by flying first class to event after event.
The combination of AOC’s politics and hypocrisy makes her an absolute dream opponent for Republicans. In addition, she has not been shy about attacking President Trump and other conservatives for years, making her a year-long political target for the right.
