Haliburton and the Pacers reached this point in the postseason after a notching a 4-1 series win over Giannis Antetokounmpo and the No. 5 seed Milwaukee Bucks in Round 1. The two-time All-Star point guard averaged 17.6 points and 11.6 assists per game in the series — including a series-sealing game winner in Game 5.

Before Game 1 of the Pacers’ second-round series against the Cavaliers, Haliburton shared a personal announcement on social media.

“He’s a talented player. Since the All-Star break, he’s been averaging like 20 [points] and 12 [assists],” Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell said. “… We don’t look at it that way. He’s a threat, and we’ve got to make sure we try to find ways to neutralize one of the biggest threats on their team.”
