British police have charged US singer Chris Brown over an alleged assault at a London nightclub in 2023. The Metropolitan Police said the charge related to an alleged assault, which reportedly took place at a nightclub on February 19, 2023. Mr Brown will remain in custody and will appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court at 10am on Friday, May 16, local time. The 36-year-old was arrested at a hotel in Manchester on Thursday in connection with an alleged bottle attack against music producer Abe Diaw at the Tape nightclub. UK Newspaper The Sun said it became aware of Mr Brown’s presence in the UK on Wednesday, at which point it alerted the Met Police. A London Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in a statement to the BBC, without naming the singer, that it had arrested a 36-year-old man shortly after 2am, local time, on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm. “He has been taken into custody where he remains,” the spokesperson said. “The arrest relates to an incident at a venue in Hanover Square on 19 February 2023.” Speaking to The Sun in 2023, Diaw said he was hospitalised after Mr Brown hit him on the head with a bottle and punched and kicked him on the floor.
