Police swarmed Keysborough Secondary College in the city’s south-east about 3pm yesterday following reports a 43-year-old man had been injured in a stabbing.
The victim, Aaron Sykes – the principal of the school, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
A male teacher was arrested at the scene and was taken to hospital with a minor injury, where he remained under police guard.
The charged man has since been charged with two counts of unlawful assault, one count of intentionally causing injury, recklessly engaging in conduct placing a person in danger of serious injury and assault with a weapon.
In a letter sent to parents, the school said Sykes was “recovering well and is in good spirits”.
“Any form of violence within our school is entirely unacceptable. We are proud of the safe and supportive culture that is the norm at our school,” the note read.
