The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) is set to host the largest gathering on Christian evangelism in 25 years, from May 27-30, in Berlin, Germany. The European Conference on Evangelism will bring together over a thousand pastors and ministry leaders from 55 nations and territories, with a focus solely on Europe’s Christian leaders.

The conference marks a historic return to the city where the Rev. Billy Graham held the first World Congress on Evangelism in 1966. This time, the focus is on helping European Christian leaders spread the light of the gospel on what’s become an increasingly dark continent.

BGEA President and CEO Franklin Graham says the theme for this year’s conference is from Romans 1:16: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.”

Graham emphasizes the importance of preaching the whole gospel and not being ashamed of it. “We don’t need to be ashamed of it. We got to teach His death, burial, resurrection, and God will bless it,” he said.

The conference comes at a critical time, as many churches in Germany closed their doors last year. “We want to ignite a fire in Europe to where there’s an excitement for evangelism and the churches are willing to be bold and not ashamed of the gospel,” Graham said.

During the conference, Ukrainian churches, Russian churches, and churches from other conflict-ridden areas will be in attendance. The BGEA hopes to encourage these churches and remind them that the gospel is more powerful than any conflict or struggle.

The European Conference on Evangelism serves as a reminder of the importance of evangelism and the power of the gospel to save people, no matter the circumstances. The BGEA encourages Christians to work harder and keep going until Jesus’ return.
